Pollock Painting

15th March 2021

This term year 1.2 P have been learning about some of the ‘great masters’ in art. Jackson Pollock (1912 -1956) was an American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement.

He was known for his technique of pouring or splashing paint onto a horizontal surface ("drip technique"). He called it "action painting", since he covered the entire canvas and used the force of his whole body to paint, often in a frenetic dancing style.

We especially loved learning about the process that Jackson Pollock used in his abstract art and gave it a try ourselves. Look what amazing pieces we created!
